Quick Check-List for potential medical review companies

You've probably heard about the joys of outsourcing your medical billing, accounting, and claims to a medical billing company. However, there are plenty of nightmare stories of health care professionals who picked the wrong medical billing companies.

When you're looking for a medical billing company, don't get caught up in the testimonials they provide for you. These are usually from their best companies and shouldn't mean much to you. You'll want to do some research online and find out all of the reviews (good and bad) each prospective company has.

Here's a quick list of things you should find out about each prospective medical billing company:

- How long have they been in business?
- How much experience does their staff have in medical billing, coding, and claims adjustment?
- What is their claims adjustment rate? It should be lower than 25%.
- How good is their costumer service? Do they respond to your questions and concerns in a reasonable period of time?

I hope this helps to get you started in the right direction. I'll have more helpful guides and tips in the future.

How do I pay for my course?

If you decide to complete a medical billing and coding course offered through a college or university, you will probably be eligible to receive federal aid to pay for the course. If you anticipate needing some type of financial assistance, seek out additional information from the financial aid office of the school you plan to register.

There are some private courses that also provide financial assistance in the form of loans or scholarships. The key is to contact the course provider and seek assistance before you start the course.

Once you successfully complete your training program, you will receive a certificate verifying your completion. The majority of courses do not assist you with job placements. However, if you speak with your instructor or course organizer, they should be able to point you in the right direction.
